Tide 4a on an AMOLED Garmin watch: time, tide curve, weather forecast and sea temperature

What’s on the wrist

Works on its own

No configuration is required: the watch face picks the best tide source automatically — built-in stations, the nearest world tide gauge, or online extremes.

Offline tide, worldwide

Predictions are computed on the watch from harmonic constants of the nearest tide gauge (TICON-4, 2,400+ coastal stations). After one sync the tide keeps running with no phone — for weeks.

Next high & low water

Times and heights in meters or feet, an amber countdown to the next event and the height change with its sign. Verified against published tide tables to within minutes.

Weather that fits

MET Norway forecast trimmed to what matters: temperature, wind speed and direction, condition icons. Wind is color-coded: up to 5, 6–10 and over 10 m/s.

Sea temperature

Model surface temperature of the sea at your spot (Open-Meteo Marine), shown right next to the tide.

Sun on the tide graph

The water darkens for the night hours, or choose a daylight edge with sunrise and sunset ticks — see at a glance whether the next high water falls in the dark.

Barometer far from the sea

Inland you get a 10-hour pressure graph with trend and a storm alert instead of an empty tide block. Pressure with its 3-hour trend sits next to the battery.

AMOLED and MIP

Made for both screens

Full-color gradients and glow on AMOLED, with an always-on display that keeps the tide visible. A crisp 64-color layout on MIP and solar models.

Always-on display

The tide stays on

On AMOLED the always-on screen keeps the outline of the tide curve with the current moment and the next high or low water with its height.

Changelog

Recent updates

  1. Always-on tide. On AMOLED the always-on screen now shows the outline of the tide curve with the current moment and the next high or low water with its height.

  2. Tide 4a Fish joins the family. All faces get sea water temperature, “Sun on tide graph”, pressure with its trend next to the battery, and a signed height change in the countdown.

  3. Font size setting (standard, large, maxi) — thanks to the first review that asked for bigger digits — and five more languages: German, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish and Japanese.

  4. Tide 4a and Tide 4a Analog are in the Connect IQ Store.

FAQ

Questions

I see a pressure graph instead of the tide. Why?

You are far from the sea, or the watch has not synced yet. Away from tide gauges the face switches to a barometer with trend and storm alert. Near the coast, open Garmin Connect on your phone once — the tide appears after the next background sync.

Do I need my phone?

Only for weather and tide updates through the Garmin Connect app. Once synced, the tide prediction is computed on the watch and keeps working with no phone for weeks.

Is it really free?

Yes — all features, no ads, no accounts. Development and the weather server run on tips.

Can I use it for navigation or diving?

No. Tide predictions are for general information only — not for navigation or dive planning.

Which units and languages are supported?

12/24 h, °C/°F, m/ft, mmHg/hPa, m/s or knots. English, Russian, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish and Japanese.

What happens to my location?

Coordinates are sent only to the developer’s proxy to fetch weather and tide data, and nothing is stored. See the privacy policy.

Like it?
Keep the tide running.

Tide 4a is free with every feature and no ads. Tips pay for the weather server and new features — thank you.
